Title
Thomas William Davids, Letters sent to him with information (including transcripts of epitaphs, extracts from parish registers and other archives, etc.) pertaining to his Annals of Evangelical Nonconformity in the County of Essex (London: Jackson, Walford, and Hodder, 1863)
Date
1861-75
Scope and content
Items originally numbered in Arabic figures, which correspond with the index compiled by, e.g., one of Davids’s daughters, and afterwards continued by Davids himself. A second numeration, in roman numerals, has afterwards been added, the original Arabic figures being often (but not always) crossed out. Neither system includes all items, some being omitted in one and some in the other; but the original arabic numeration (apart from having the advantage of corresponding with the index) is on the whole the more efficient, and is to be preferred. Letters tipped on to the stubs of an already-existing note book and account book.
