Baxter’s examination of a book treated, by way of dialogue, on the nature of ecclesiastical government, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ and the Christian ministry. Includes: ‘§1 This booke is considerable 1˚ as to the Manner 2˚ as to the matter. I put the Manner first because it is fitted partly to conceale the matter, & partly to deceive the reader on pretense of opening it.’

  • Chauncy’s A Theological Dialogue containing a defence and justification of Dr John Owen from the forty-two errors charged upon him by Mr Richard Baxter was published in 1684. Later in the same year Chauncy published The Second Part of the Theological Dialogue being a rejoinder to Mr Richard Baxter.
