Baxter’s discourse on Christ’s death and resurrection
1600-1699
ff 6-196. Additional pagination pp. 1-403
A discourse or successive discourses brought together into a treatise. By Richard Baxter. Apparently written out from shorthand notes by his hearers, and revised throughout, with corrections and additions by his own hand. Some of the corrections amount to whole passages, in the margins, as at p. 251 and p. 287; and a paper written on both sides is pinned between pp. 280-281. A transposition of 4 pages is noted at p. 380, p. 394 by the first hand.
‘My purpose being to handle only the subiect matter which these words containe in themselves, & not to touch them as they stand in relation to the words precedent, or subsequent;’
